John Martin

John Martin spent 36 years at OECD working mainly on labour market and social policy issues. During that period, he became the founding Editor of the OECD Employment Outlook and spent many years overseeing the quality and policy relevance of the topics covered by the Outlook. For two years, he was also Editor of the OECD Economic Outlook and in charge of the OECD regular short-term forecasting work. From 2000 to 2013, he was Director for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs.

He was appointed by the French and Irish governments to Councils designed to advise them on employment policies. Since his retirement from OECD in 2013, John has been working as a consultant on labour market and social policy issues and has continued his research on these topics via positions with the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) in Bonn and the Geary Institute for Public Policy at University College Dublin.
